Red Pine or commonly called "Norway Pine" is a relatively fast growing pine at 18"-24" per year, that prefers a well drained soil and is intolerant of shade. Norway Pine is the Minnesota state tree and is a tall and straight tree reaching a maximum of 140 feet at maturity. Red Pine can live to the ripe old age of 500 years. Red pine is a preferred tree for lumber production as it can be grown in row plantations for renewable harvests.
